Dr. Saunders was the founding Dean of the College of Science. She is currently the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. Her administrative interests are in fostering the educational, research, and service functions of the University, the Colleges, and their faculty.
Dr. Saunders' scientific expertise is in the area of plant cell biology and microscopy, especially cell division.
